چکیده

Background: The skin is the third most zinc-abundant organ in human body. Zinc deficiency has been linked with poor wound healing, acrodermatitis enteropathica, and alopecia. Bullous pemphigoid(BP) mainly caused by anti-basement membrane zone autoantibodies against BP180 or BP230. However, relationship between BP zinc status still unknown. Objectives: We sought to study serum levels patients gene expression profiles of homeostasis BP180-deficient control mice. Materials & Methods: A single-center retrospective from January 2010 September 2022 was conducted. transcriptome mice expressing NC16A-truncated wild-type controls were analyzed(GSE112235). Results: There 92 patients, including 48 males 44 females, who had available levels. mean age 77.9 years (range 52-96 years). level 57.8 μg/dl(range 28-98 μg/dl, normal 70-100μg/dl). prevalence 82.6%. In comparison, average 440 elderly(mean age: 78.4 years) long-term care residents 70.2 μg/dl. no significant difference age, sex, eosinophils counts patients. Comparing mice, 267 zinc-associated genes down-regulated(|fold change| ≥ 1.5 p < 0.05), only five up-regulated. Reactome pathway analysis these down-regulated genes, top transporters. BP230- and BP180-specific auto-antibodies in bullous pemphigoid.

Bullous pemphigoid is a subepidermal blistering disease associated with auto-antibodies (auto-ab) to BP180 and BP230. We developed ELISAs utilizing baculovirus-encoded recombinant proteins of BP230 and BP180 and studied their diagnostic and prognostic values by assessing the profile of the auto-ab response in 127 patients with BP. 39 patients had focal involvement, whereas 88 had generalized di...

Serum Levels of Autoantibodies to BP180 Correlate With Disease Activity in Patients With Bullous Pemphigoid

Main Outcome Measures: Disease activity, serum levels of autoantibodies to BP180, and titers of anti– basement membrane zone autoantibodies were assayed before initiation of treatment and 4 and 8 weeks later. Reactivity to BP180 was analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay using a recombinant form of BP180 NC16A. Titers of anti–basement membrane zone autoantibodies were assayed by indirect...

BP180 Is Critical in the Autoimmunity of Bullous Pemphigoid

Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is by far the most common autoimmune blistering dermatosis that mainly occurs in the elderly. The BP180 is a transmembrane glycoprotein, which is highly immunodominant in BP. The structure and location of BP180 indicate that it is a significant autoantigen and plays a key role in blister formation. Autoantibodies from BP patients react with BP180, which leads to its degr...

Association of Autoantibodies to BP180 with Disease Activity in Greek Patients with Bullous Pemphigoid

39 bullous pemphigoid (BP) patients were studied to assess the clinical significance of anti-BP180 and anti-BP230 circulating autoantibodies of BP and correlate their titers with the clinical scores of the BP Disease Area Index (BPDAI) and the Autoimmune Bullous Skin Disorder Intensity Score (ABSIS) as well as with the intensity of pruritus measured by the BPDAI pruritus component. All paramete...

Serum levels of autoantibodies to BP180 correlate with disease activity in patients with bullous pemphigoid.

BACKGROUND The 180-kDa transmembrane hemidesmosomal protein (BPAG2) has been identified as an important autoantigen in bullous pemphigoid (BP). Using the NC16A domain as the antigenic target, a highly sensitive and specific enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of autoantibodies to BP180 was developed. AIM To investigate the correlation of clinical severity and ELISA ind...
